Since Investigate (Step 1) was the first summative of the year I had handed in, no one expected me to get a good grade, and neither did I. At the time, I didn’t realize how hard 7th graders had to work, but as the year went by I improved a lot. The grade I got for Investigate was 3 out of 6, which bothers me because when I go to my profile on Managebac and check my grades, I always see that grade and say to myself, “Why didn’t I work harder?”

One of the reasons why I got 3 out of 6 was because I was lazy. 6th grade was so much different, only having to do homework for one subject. In 7th grade I have to do homework for lots of subjects, so I had to give enough time for each subject to do homework. Mr. Thorburn did also say that each week we should only do 1 hour max of Design Technology homework, but I disobeyed that rule while I was making the Design (Step 2) and Plan (Step 3).

I have learned from Mr. Thorburn that hard, HARD work is the key to a good grade, so I have stuck with that so far. I didn’t get how it was possible to have 11 pages for Investigate, like my friends had done, and I only had 6 pages, including the “Testing Against Specification” page. Another reason why I got a 3 was because I didn’t do the Specification properly. Many of my classmates said, and I agree, that the steps to make a specification were unclear, and some of my friends, like I did, wrote the specification in paragraph form, but later after the Investigate stage, I changed the specification from paragraph form to note form.
